Scope of Research

The department is dedicated to the integrateddiagnosis, treatment, and teaching of infectious diseases using bothTraditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western medicine. Areas of focusinclude:

COVID-19, influenza, chickenpox, diarrhea

Common and drug-resistant bacterial infections affecting therespiratory, digestive, urinary, nervous, and circulatory systems

Fever of unknown origin

Sepsis and septic shock

Integrating basic theories of TCM and Western medicine tounderstand the scientific mechanisms of TCM in treating infectious diseases

Department Operations

Facilities: 15 isolation wards with 25beds currently open

Staff: 17medical professionals, including:

4 senior professional title holders

8 intermediate professional title holders

1 doctoral candidate

Clinics: 24-hour fever clinic,intestinal clinic, infectious internal medicine clinic, and other specializedclinics, with a focus on fever and infectious diseases

Team Expertise and Training

The department brings together a dynamic andmotivated team of young professionals. All team members graduated fromprestigious domestic medical universities and have pursued advanced training attop Western medicine hospitals in China, including:

This training ensures systematic mastery ofinternationally advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques for infectiousdiseases.

In the field of TCM, team members have studied atleading TCM institutions such as the Guangdong Provincial Hospital ofTraditional Chinese Medicine, with a special focus on TCM classics. Guided bythe principle of "inheriting the essence, upholding integrity,and fostering innovation," the team deeply studies classic workssuch as the Treatise on Febrile Diseases and SystematicIdentification of Epidemic Febrile Diseases. They have developed a uniquediagnostic and treatment model:

"Precise diagnosis with Western medicine, syndrome differentiationand treatment with TCM."

Research Focus: Integrating TCMClassics with Modern Medicine

Using the "integration of TCMclassic theory and modern medical basic theory" as abreakthrough, the department focuses on:

Antibacterial and antiviral mechanisms of classic TCMformulas (e.g., Xiaochaihu Decoction, Chaihu Guizhi Decoction)

Strategies to reverse drug-resistant bacteria

Promoting deep integration of TCM classic theory with modernmedical theory to uncover the underlying logic of TCM in treating infectiousdiseases

Developing integrated TCM-Western medicine diagnostic andtreatment pathways for infectious diseases

Exploring a whole-process management model: "Preventingdisease before it occurs, preventing changes after it occurs"

Clinical Preparations and TCM Therapies

The department has completed preparations ofTCM formulas such as Yinqiao Jiedu San and Jiangni Zhike San.Additionally, it offers a range of TCM characteristic therapies, including:

Local fumigation

Acupuncture

Bloodletting

Auricular point pressing

Acupoint application

Ginger moxibustion

These therapies are combined withoral TCM administration to enhance clinical efficacy.
