The Department of Nutrition was founded in 1995. In theearly stage, it was mainly responsible for therapeutic dietary services forinpatients. Since 2018, the department has gradually transformed from alogistical support department into an independent clinical department, fullyparticipated in clinical decision-making, and become an important part of thecomprehensive treatment system for diseases.

cope of Research
The department is committed to the clinical nutritiondiagnosis and treatment, scientific research and teaching of nutritionalsupport for critically ill patients, perioperative nutritional therapy,oncology nutrition, nutritional management of chronic metabolic diseases(diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia, gout, etc.), maternal and child nutrition,geriatric nutrition, and all kinds of malnutrition patients.

The department has focused on setting up Weight Management and Chronic DiseaseManagement Clinics, and built an integrated service mode of"Consultation-Follow-up-Home Care" to improve the quality ofwhole-process patient management. At the same time, it actively promotes theintegration of nutrition and traditional Chinese medicine, combiningnutritional therapy with TCM conditioning to form a full-cycle health servicepath of "Screening-Prevention-Treatment-Recovery-Management".
The department's business covers the whole process ofnutritional risk screening, assessment, diagnosis and treatment for inpatients,and participates in the discussion of difficult cases and multidisciplinarycooperation in grade-IV surgeries. The department has set up an enteralnutrition preparation room, which can carry out individualized nutritionpreparation to meet the nutritional therapy needs of critically ill patients.
The department undertakes teaching tasks such asinternship and advanced study, and holds continuing education projects everyyear. In addition, the department has participated in the formulation ofindustrial norms such as Shenzhen Nutrition Therapy Plan for COVID-19 and Expert Consensus on Diagnosis and Treatment ofHyperhomocysteinemia; actively expanded new technologies and projects ofnutritional therapy, edited many professional works such as Clinical Nutrition Management andPractice, Obesity Treatment, Clinical Nutrition Management, and undertaken anumber of scientific research projects. At present, the department isparticipating in the "Prospective Multicenter Study of Chinese Weight LossPopulation Cohort", a 5-year project led by the First Affiliated Hospitalof University of Science and Technology of China.
In the future, the department will take the construction of a"Regional Clinical Nutrition Diagnosis and Treatment Center" as thegoal, promote the in-depth integration of clinical nutrition and variousclinical specialties, take evidence-based nutrition as the foundation, takepatient needs as the guidance, practice the concept of "Nutrition isTherapy", and build an "individualized, refined andwhole-process" clinical nutrition service system to contributeprofessional strength to patient rehabilitation and national health.
