Department Establishment History
The Department of Nutrition was founded in 1995. In the early stage, it was mainly responsible for therapeutic dietary services for inpatients. Since 2018, the department has gradually transformed from a logistical support department into an independent clinical department, fully participated in clinical decision-making, and become an important part of the comprehensive treatment system for diseases.
Department Honors
The department has won many national and provincial honors, including National Pilot Unit for Clinical Nutrition Department Construction, Demonstration Base for Non-Drug Intervention Weight Management, Innovative Unit for Smart Nutrition Education and Service Development in Hospitals, Demonstration Clinic for Standardized Diagnosis and Treatment of Weight Management, Special Contribution Award for National Nutrition Week, First Prize in Aseptic Operation Skills Competition for Enteral Nutrition Preparation, etc.

cope of Research
The department is committed to the clinical nutrition diagnosis and treatment, scientific research and teaching of nutritional support for critically ill patients, perioperative nutritional therapy, oncology nutrition, nutritional management of chronic metabolic diseases (diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia, gout, etc.), maternal and child nutrition, geriatric nutrition, and all kinds of malnutrition patients.
Department Operations
The department has focused on setting up Weight Management and Chronic Disease Management Clinics, and built an integrated service mode of "Consultation-Follow-up-Home Care" to improve the quality of whole-process patient management. At the same time, it actively promotes the integration of nutrition and traditional Chinese medicine, combining nutritional therapy with TCM conditioning to form a full-cycle health service path of "Screening-Prevention-Treatment-Recovery-Management".
The department's business covers the whole process of nutritional risk screening, assessment, diagnosis and treatment for inpatients, and participates in the discussion of difficult cases and multidisciplinary cooperation in grade-IV surgeries. The department has set up an enteral nutrition preparation room, which can carry out individualized nutrition preparation to meet the nutritional therapy needs of critically ill patients.
The department undertakes teaching tasks such as internship and advanced study, and holds continuing education projects every year. In addition, the department has participated in the formulation of industrial norms such as Shenzhen Nutrition Therapy Plan for COVID-19 and Expert Consensus on Diagnosis and Treatment of Hyperhomocysteinemia; actively expanded new technologies and projects of nutritional therapy, edited many professional works such as Clinical Nutrition Management and Practice, Obesity Treatment, Clinical Nutrition Management, and undertaken a number of scientific research projects. At present, the department is participating in the "Prospective Multicenter Study of Chinese Weight Loss Population Cohort", a 5-year project led by the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China.
In the future, the department will take the construction of a "Regional Clinical Nutrition Diagnosis and Treatment Center" as the goal, promote the in-depth integration of clinical nutrition and various clinical specialties, take evidence-based nutrition as the foundation, take patient needs as the guidance, practice the concept of "Nutrition is Therapy", and build an "individualized, refined and whole-process" clinical nutrition service system to contribute professional strength to patient rehabilitation and national health.
