Established in 1992, the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (Pulmonology) at Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Hospital is a comprehensive clinical department that integrates medical care, education, and research. Guided by the hospital’s motto "Unity, Integrity, Inheritance, Innovation", we adhere to a development philosophy that prioritizes equal emphasis on TCM and Western medicine, highlights TCM’s unique strengths, integrates internal and external therapies, and combines treatment with prevention. Department Leadership

The department has been steered by three successive chief physicians: Gao Xue, Qu Jinglai, and Chen Sheng, whose contributions laid a solid foundation for its growth. Since 2023, Chief Physician Xie Wei has served as the department director, driving continuous innovation and development.

Epidemic Response & TCM Drug Development

We take a leading role in TCM-based prevention and treatment of respiratory infectious diseases. Our team led the formulation and ongoing optimization of the Shenzhen TCM Protocol for COVID-19 Prevention and Treatment, and developed an innovative TCM drug, Guben Qingfei Granules, which has received acceptance from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).

Smart Healthcare & Pulmonary Rehabilitation

We integrate TCM with modern technology to deliver full-cycle pulmonary rehabilitation via an intelligent data platform. We are also actively developing smart wards using wearable devices to enhance patient care.

TCM Dominant Therapies & Customized Medications

We focus on three core TCM strengths: managing cough, asthma, and dyspnea. Our clinical services extend to three emerging areas:
